THE 34TH MAKO CITY SEVENS TOURNAMENT

The City 7’s is a well-established fixture on the spring sporting calendar and 2006 will be the 34th staging of the event. This year will be Mako Group’s fourth as principal sponsors of the City 7’s and, as well as being a lot of fun, it is an event that we are proud to be associated with. The day is a good mix of social activity, competitive rugby and it also raises important funds for the children’s charity SPARKS (Sport Aiding Medical Research for Kids).

Founded and supported by top personalities in sports and entertainment, SPARKS has funded hundreds of medical projects in the UK, committing £millions to tackle conditions as diverse as cerebral palsy, meningitis, the dangers of premature birth, spina bifida, childhood arthritis and cancers. The importance of their work is summed up by one startling statistic: around 80% of pioneering paediatric medical research at hospitals and universities in the UK has to be funded by charities like SPARKS.

Mako Group took the challenge of supporting SPARKS at the City 7’s in 2003. We make our contribution through a mixture of a fixed donation, raffle tickets and programme production that offers companies a variety of advertising opportunities.
